What does this Privacy Policy cover? 

This Privacy Policy covers how we treat personal information that we gather when you access or use our Services.    This includes any information that identifies or relates to a particular individual and also includes information referred to as “personally identifiable information” or “personal information” under applicable data privacy laws, rules, or regulations.

This Privacy Policy does not cover the practices of companies we don’t own or control or people we don’t manage

  • Providing Aptitude Services:   We may use your information in the context of providing the Services including delivery of programs, dashboards, and/or scoring;  notification about new features and services; or changes to our policies and/or terms.
  • Sharing with employer and education partners:   We may share your information upon your consent to employers and/or education institutions with whom we partners for career and educational opportunities.
  • Enabling communications:   We may use your information in order to enable user-to-user or group communications with your consent.
  • Communications with Aptitude:   We may use your information to request feedback, provide testimonials and/or to respond to inquiries you may have during the course of using our Services.
  • Deliver targeted opportunities to you:  We may use your information to provide personalized follow-on program, coursework or career opportunities based on factors including your interests, performance in prior activities on the platform, and/or location.
  • Deliver targeted advertising to you:   We may use your information for marketing or promotional purposes, develop and display content and/or advertising including with third party partners based on factors including your interests, background and/or location.   You may opt out of these marketing emails at any time.
  • Account creation and log-in:  To simplify account creation and log-in process you may choose to link your account with a 3rd party account such as Google or LinkedIn, we use that information based on your consent from those third parties to facilitate the request.
  • Manage your orders:   We may use your information to fulfill and/or manage your orders, payments or cancellations made through the Services.
  • Security:   We may use your information as part of our efforts to keep our Services safe and secure.   These actions include enforcing terms and conditions, fraud monitoring and prevention, and identify confirmation.

We use cookies and similar technologies to enable our systems to recognize your web browser and tell us when you visit and how you use our Services.   We use the collected information to provide and continually improve our Services.   We may also supplement the information we directly collect form you with information from third parties.    

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies based on your preference.   Please note that due to the use of Cookies, some Services may not support “Do Not Track” requests sent from a browser and thereby disrupt your experience.  

Our Website utilizes Google Analytics, which monitors and analyzes how visitors use our site.    Utilizing cookies to provide information about your visits to the Services and is subject to the Google Analytics Terms of Use and Google Privacy Policy.

Information retention and data security.

Data Security.
Your personal information is important to us and we have implemented reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any information we collect and process.   Although we will do our best to protect your information including transmission of your information to and from our Services is at your own risk.   You should only access the Website and Services within a secure environment.  

Currently our business is focused on the United States market, and as such the information we collect through the Website and Services will be transferred and processed and stored in the United States.  

Information Retention.
We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless otherwise required or permitted by law for purposes such as tax, accounting or other legal requirements.

Business Transfers.
All of your Personal Data that we collect may be transferred to a third party if we undergo a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy or other transaction in which that third party assumes control of our business (in whole or in part). Should one of these events occur, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you before your information becomes subject to different privacy and security policies and practices.

Privacy for minors.

Our Website and Services are intended for users who are at least 15 years of age. We do not knowingly accept, request, or solicit information from minors or knowingly market to minors. If we receive actual knowledge that anyone under the age of 15 has provided personal information to us without parental consent, we will delete that information.  

A parent or legal guardian of a minor under the age of 15 may review and request deletion of such minor’s personal information as well as prohibit the use of that information.

Privacy rights.

You may review, change, or terminate your account with Aptitude at any time.  If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:

  • Log into your account settings and update your user account.
  • Contact us using the contact information provided.

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases.    Understand that some information may be retained in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our Terms of Use and/or comply with legal requirements.

California residents’ privacy rights.

California residents are granted specific rights regarding access to your personal information.   At present, the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 does not apply to Outlier. If that were to change in the future, we will update this privacy policy, and attempt to notify you of that change.

Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83, users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year.

Other state law privacy rights.

If you are a resident of Nevada, you are granted specific rights regarding your ability to opt out of the sale if your information.

We do not presently sell the personal information we collect to any third parties. If we were to do so in the future, we will update this policy, and provide Nevada residents with the opportunity to opt out of the sale of their personal information.
